Blogtubing

If there is one idea that has been living in my head, rent free, for the last five years. It is starting a Youtube channel. Maybe it is because I am a content fiend, consuming 2 hours of video goodness daily. Perhaps it is because I have a lot to say, and nobody in my new city to say it to. In any case, I am excited to flex my tiny artistic muscle and see what I can build.

Lot's of people have shaken their head at me in disappointment over the years whenever I mention that I am not a reader. Yes, I am looking at you Hinge girl. It is not like I cannot read, or even that I do not read the occasional book. It is more like I do things that serve a purpose, and reading a book detailing the adventures of a flying donkey in Siberia has no value (to me). Yes, there are books on everything, but there are also videos on everything that are more relatable, more digestible and overall less likely to make me stick a fork in my eye.

Enter, Blogtubing. Writing allows me to reach people, to spread an idea, to control your neurons, to advertise the terrible products I will inevitably make, and to reassure myself that the heroic efforts of my English-30 teacher were not for nothing. In parallel, making videos is in my opinion the ultimate art. The content planning, on-camera execution, and editing may just in fact be enough "makeup" to beautify my awful personality.

The best part of Blogtubing is content double-dipping. First, I plan my video content in blog format. It will allow me to fully parse out my ideas, something I am not known for; I prefer the jump feet first strategy. Then, I shoot the video, making the necessary writing-to-production adjustments along the way, and then circle back to quickly(TM) update the blog. BAM, two posts for one topic with little overhead.

I have yet to mention the upside in technical expertise to-be-gained by executing on these plans. I have already debugged the dreaded Youtube black bar problem. It was an Openshot thing...
